Americave

The Americave considers the commodification of American culture as seen through Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. The installation utilizes cheap disposable manufactured materials that would be abundantly available after the fall of contemporary civilization. The tipi is made from used blue jeans to symbolize the American icon while commenting on modern society usurping native culture and land. The captivating hearth is the television, a tool used to depict imagined events rather then provide actual experience.
